Makkah

Makkah (Mecca) is the Birthplace of Prophet Muhammad and is Islam’s holiest city. In the past, it was called Bakkah, Umm Al-Qura, and Al-Balad Al-Amin, and its mountains witnessed the first revelation. Muslims from all over the world visit Makkah to perform pilgrimage (Hajj and Umrah). The Holy Kaaba, a religious center of Muslims, is in Makkah, and they pray five times a day by facing the direction of the Kaaba.

Makkah Museum, Mount Arafat, Masjid al-Jinn, Jamarat Bridge, Al Masjid al-Haram, Jabal al Noor, Jannat al-Mu'alla Cemetery, and Mina Tabernacle City are among the most visited places in Mecca. Mecca welcomes guests from all over the country, but entry to the Haram area is for Muslims only. It was also an important commercial station for mobile trade caravans between the north and south.
